Music and Flamenco
 In August, Lo Ferro, a small village in the Cartagena countryside, plays host to the Lo Ferro flamenco song festival, which is amongst the most important in the county. The festival lasts several days, during which artists compete for the coveted "Golden Melon" award.
Located on the coast of the Mar Menor, San Javier is one of the regions top summer music, theatre and dance venues. During the months of June, July and August, this seaside town plays host to a series of internationally renowned cultural events including the San Javier Jazz Festival, the Pecata Minuta pop festival and the Festival of Theatre, Music and Dance.

Food
 Enjoy a taste of the sea with an exquisite caldero. Made with fish and served with garlic sauce, this juicy and flavourful rice dish is typical of the Mar Menor area. It is widely available throughout the region but, for a real touch of authenticity, it is hard to beat one of the restaurants in the towns and villages around the Mar Menor. Don’t forget to order some of the distinctively flavoured Mar Menor prawns.
Don't go home without sampling some of the following delectable regional delicacies, all of which have earned their own designation of origin. These include wines from Bullas, Yecia and Jumilla; rice from Calasparra; peppers; goat cheese with wine; lamb from the Segura area or pears from Jumilla.
Try a paparajote and discover the secret behind its flavour. This typical Murcian dessert is made with flour, lemon, milk, sugar and cinnamon and is a particular favourite during fiestas.
